Kate Brannan grew up in Middletown, where she listened to WALL and never even dreamed about being on the radio, since girls didn’t do that kind of thing. She was shy and quiet, except with family and good friends. That all changed when she found the college radio station at SUNY Orange, which led her to later become WALL’s first full-time female air personality.
In time she moved to bigger stations in bigger cities in search of fame and fortune, but realized that no other place was as nice as home, so she returned to Orange County, got a “real job”, got married and had a couple of kids.
But the radio bug will not be denied. Among other endeavors, Kate spent seven glorious years with Air Pirates Radio Theater as a voice actor, musician, and writer. And when the opportunity arose to join the new WALL radio family, she was delighted to say yes.
You’ll hear her talk on the radio about various members of her family. Now, we won’t say that she actually tells fibs, but any story about “Uncle Pete” should probably be taken with a grain of salt. There was a real Uncle Pete years ago, now a family legend. He lives on in outlandish – sometimes even true – tales.
Kate lives in a little house in the woods just outside of Middletown with her daughter and various pets. Her hobbies include playing piano, sewing, knitting, reading, and wishing she knew how to ride a unicycle.
