Photography Master Class at SUNY Orange
April 23 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

A master class directly related to the art show Curiosity: An Exhibition by Mary Cathryn Roth will complement the show by being held on the final day of the exhibit.
Curiosity: Meditation and Reflection: An Exploration of Using Compositional and Design Elements in Photography to Express Artistic Intention is scheduled to start at 4:30pm on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in the Mindy Ross Gallery, Kaplan Hall. The exhibit and master class are free and open to the public.
The class will include an artist-led walk by Roth through the exhibit and then an interactive discussion — reflection exercise on developing artistic intention and vision. Roth will explain using the elements of design and composition to reflect artistic intention. Then, moving to the Orange Bank & Trust Company Great Room 101, she will also demonstrate camera settings (ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed) and how to select shooting modes to reflect one’s artistic intention. Following this instruction, Roth will lead a photography exercise on site with a view of the Hudson River since the setting of the class affords the opportunity of easy sight of the river.
Because this is a participatory class, it is important for attendees to bring their digital cameras and/or cellphones for this hands-on exercise and technical advice.
The gallery and OBTC Great Room are located in Kaplan Hall at 73 First St, Newburgh where the college garage opens for free, secure parking. Questions may be directed to cultural@sunyorange.edu and www.sunyorange/culturalaffairs
