Middletown Art Group Members Spring Exhibition
May 8 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Middletown Art Group (MAG) 2025 Members Spring Exhibition will be on view in Orange Hall Gallery, SUNY Orange May 8 through June 17. Ninety-five artworks by thirty-nine artists will be displayed, representing various media including photography, oil, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, watercolor, mixed media, and collage. The works highlight many styles, techniques, and sizes.
Memorial tributes exhibiting the works of longtime members Frank Shuback and Joe Grabowski, who recently passed away, will have special placement in the show.
Now in its 79th year as an active art organization, MAG’s members live not only in Middletown, but beyond Orange County borders into Sullivan, Ulster, Dutchess, Sussex, and Pike Counties. The art group was formed “for the purpose of exchanging ideas between artists, craftsmen, art teachers, and students and of providing an atmosphere in which to improve individual skills and respect for the efforts of others.” Continuing that mission, MAG schedules throughout the year for the monthly meetings, demonstrations on a wide range of medium/media and programs on topics related to creating and displaying art.
SUNY Orange (Orange County Community College) is celebrating its 75th anniversary of “Transforming Lives.” Each artwork created by an artist who graduated from or studied at SUNY Orange will have the 75th logo placed next to it. So, check out that feature.
The 2025 show chair is Denise Shelby Isseks. The president of the art group is Alison Echevarria. Come to the reception and meet them and the members of MAG as they celebrate the 79th anniversary of the art group. In addition, eight awards will be presented to member artists whose works were chosen by 2025 judge Sarah Fortner Pierson, a well-known local artist.
The reception is scheduled on Sunday, May 18 from 3 to 5pm during which time musicians Bev Poyerd, pianist and Al Ramos, bassist will play jazz standards and lively contemporary favorites. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday – 8am to 8pm and Friday – 8am to 5pm through May, and Monday through Thursday – 8am to 6pm only in June. The gallery is closed Memorial Day Weekend. Orange Hall is located at 24 Grandview Ave, Middletown with free parking adjacent in Lot #1.
