Police chief’s son becomes state trooper

March 28, 2022 By midhudsonnews

KINGSTON – Being a police officer runs in the Tinti family. Elmo Tinti is a new state trooper, having graduated from the State Police Academy last week.

He is not the first Kingston Tinti to become a cop. His dad, Egidio Tinti, is chief of police in the City of Kingston.

  • “As a father, I am very proud of my son. I never encouraged him to get into law enforcement. He was already community-minded in many ways, and I think that for him to serve as a police officer really speaks volumes as to who he is, and as a family and his father, we are very proud of him,” said the elder Tinti.

Trooper Tinti entered law enforcement four years ago as a Kingston city cop for a short period of time, attended the Ulster County Police Academy at SUNY Ulster and when offered a position with the State Police, took the opportunity.
