Uniquely American, Uniquely Acoustic
at the County Museum on October 6
Hurleyville, NY – Summer may be over, but our First Sunday Music in History Program isn’t!
This October 6 at 2 p.m., the Sullivan County Museum will host musical performances and a discussion on the impact of acoustic instruments in North America. Sponsored by the Sullivan County Historical Society, the program will showcase some uniquely American styles of music such as Bluegrass, Old Time Country and Americana. There will be several examples of instruments on display, including banjos, guitars and mandolins.
Returning to the series is Mike Baglione, a renowned guitarist and luthier who was featured in the very first Music in History performance. Also returning is Steve and Clancey Lane, who were well received in their performance with the Museum’s Woodsongs Coffeehouse series several years ago.
The program is hosted by Little Sparrow, and you can count on some great collaborations (aka jam sessions) among this expert group of musicians.
The program is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.
The Sullivan County Museum is located at 265 Main Street in Hurleyville. The event is free. Donations will be gratefully accepted. Call 845-434-8044 for more info, or visit the website at www.scnyhistory.org.
