Ulster County agency’s Arbor Day sale underway
The Ulster County Soil and Water Conservation District is holding an Arbor Day sale, with orders being taken through April 10. A variety of inexpensive bare-root trees, shrubs, ground covers, wildflower seeds, bird nesting boxes and other items that are ideal for erosion control, wildlife food and cover, windscreens, shade and privacy are being sold.
Prices for seedlings, which range in size from six to 50 inches, depends on the species, size and quantity.
They are sold in quantities of 10 for $10-$12, 25 for $22-$26, 50 for $40-$48 and 100 for $70-$85.
You can call the district for an order form at 883-7162; stop by their office at 5 Park Lane in Highland on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; or visit their website at www.ucswcd.org.
Orders can be picked up April 17 and 18 at the Ulster County Fairgrounds, 249 Libertyville Road, New Paltz; and April 19 and 20 at the Ulster County Highway Garage, 317 Shamrock Lane, off Hurley Avenue in Kingston. Any excess stock available can be purchased on the pick-up days on a firstcome, first-served basis.
