St Peter’s Chili Cook-Off
March 7, 2020 @ 6:00 am - 9:00 am
St. Peter’s Church in Port Jervis will have its eighth annual Chili Cook-Off from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. March 7 (snow date March 8) at 31 West Main St.
Both chili chefs and tasters are needed for the cook-off, which will begin at 11 a.m., with voting ending at 1 p.m. Awards will be given between 1:30-2 p.m.
Registration is limited to the first 20 entries for those cooks who want to enter their chili into the competition. There is no entry fee. Anyone who wants to be a taster, and vote on their favorites, can do so at the church the day of the competition for a donation of $6. Chili will also be available for $5 a bowl, and takeout will be available. All proceeds benefit the ministry and community outreach of St. Peter’s Church.
Last year there were about 20 chili entries, including vegetarian options, with awards given to the top entries in different categories. The returning judges for this year include Kelly Decker, Port Jervis mayor, and Bill Harris, Chef on the Run.
Anyone interested in registering to be a chili chef for the event is asked to contact Kurt Brink by email at email@example.com. For any other information, call St. Peter’s at 845-856-1033 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
