Office for the Aging Invites Residents
to Health Fair and Senior Safety Day
Swan Lake, NY – The Sullivan County Office for the Aging has scheduled a Public Hearing on Wednesday, October 16 at the Sullivan County Airport Terminal Lobby, 75 Co. Rd. 183A (Airport Road) in Swan Lake, to gain input from older residents, baby boomers, and other interested parties on programs and services provided by the agency. The Public Hearing begins at 8:30 a.m. with registration and a free light breakfast, followed by a health fair.
The Office for the Aging provides such programs as home-delivered meals and congregate meals, in-home services, assistance to informal caregivers, the Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program (HIICAP), Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), Sullivan NYCONNECTS, a shopping bus and medical transportation. Information gathered at the public hearing will be used in the development of the Agency’s Annual Plan for services, which must be submitted to the New York State Office for the Aging by December 1, 2019.
Following the Public Hearing, the Senior Safety Forum “Addictions Occur at Any Age” will address how addictions can directly impact an individual’s physical, emotional and financial welfare.

· Colleen Jones, Mid-Hudson Problem Gambling Resource Center
· Eric J. Chaboty, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office
The hearing and fair will be followed by lunch and door prizes (must be present to win).
Senior Safety Day is free! Walk-ins are welcome, but the Office for the Aging will once again coordinate transportation for seniors that would like to attend but cannot drive themselves. The bus will pick up at the following locations:

• 19 Legion Street, Jeffersonville
• 167 N. Main Street, Liberty
• 2948 Rt. 209, Wurtsboro,
• 1968 Old Rt. 17, Roscoe
