4-H Open Project Judging registration deadline

September 24, 2020 @ 1:00 pm

  • « Friendly Visitor Training
  • Access for All: dinner & virtual celebration »

Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County’s 4-H Youth Development Program will be hosting Open Project Judging of eligible projects for any youth ages 5-21 in Orange County to enter.
Typically, Project Judging by Orange County 4-H would be held during CCE Orange County’s own Fair however due to limitations and restrictions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, this event was cancelled for 2020 and the Orange County 4-H Program planned other ways of holding some of the events for youth to experience.
“With many county fairs also being cancelled this year, the public was not given the opportunity to enter their handmade creations and gardening efforts for evaluation and because of this, CCE Orange County’s 4-H Program is hosting an Open Project Judging for all youth in Orange County ages 5-21” said DeAnna Sardella-Matthews, Orange County 4-H Resource Educator.
Join Orange County 4-H members by entering your handmade creations for evaluation and display. Share your hard work with all of Orange County! Projects will be photographed and displayed on the CCE Orange County and Orange County 4-H website.
Some of the categories of eligible projects include fall under Horticulture, Natural Science, STEM, Family & Consumer Sciences and much more. The Project Entry and General Interest book lists all categories that are eligible for Open Project Judging and the requirements that must be met for each project entered. A separate set of requirements will apply within each age group. You can find the complete book for Project Entry and General Interest on Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County’s event page at www.CCEOrangeCounty.org/events.
You must make an appointment to bring your project(s) to CCE Orange County’s Education Center & 4-H Park located at 300 Finchville Turnpike in Otisville, New York for curbside drop-off. New York State and CDC Guidelines will be followed, and masks MUST be worn at the Education Center & 4-H Park. Appointments for drop off will be available on Friday, September 25th between 2 and 8 PM or Sunday, September 27th between 12 and 4 PM. The registration deadline is September 24th! To register and select your appointment time, please visit the event page at www.CCEOrangeCounty.org/events.

For questions on projects and Open Project Judging, you can call DeAnna at 845-344-1234 extension 249 or email ds2285@cornell.edu.
