KINGSTON – Political newcomer Sarahana Shrestha has defeated long-time State Assemblyman Kevin Cahill in the Democratic primary for the 103rd district.
Shrestha’s victory is “a massive step forward toward building a New York for the many,” said Jonathan Bix of the group For the Many.
He called the win “an incredible victory” won “because we fought as hard as we could.”
Shrestha would become the first democratic socialist from upset New York in the State legislature.
